I've been a fan of the emo genre for ever since my friend first turned me to it back in the early 2000s. It's been such a trip to see this genre grow and change in the past 16 years, and one of those changes is the evolution of the band known as The Used. It's been about 15 years since their self-titled album and a few years shorter from their In Love and Death release. To celebrate the releases, they had a North American two-night tour where they played both albums in their entirety. I had the fortunate opportunity to photograph their sets and be a part of such moving and powerful evenings. Night one, they performed their first album, interjecting anecdotes and footnotes about some of the tracks and life in general, and doing the same on night two with In Love and Death. Fans cried and sung their hearts out to these bonafide legends, while receiving a beautiful intimate performance that was more than appreciated and cherished by those in attendance. And now, photos. I also included a Spotify Playlist of the first two albums to listen to while going through the photos.
