Shoot Date: January 29-31, 2016
I've shot a good number of cosplay events this past year.
Usually it revolves around me carrying around a giant flash, or pushing a cart with a giant flash... either way a giant flash was involved.
When I was told about Anime Los Angeles, I was a little apprehensive about attending.
I was burnt out from the past year of shooting and, honestly, I almost felt like skipping the entire event.
Then a few days before the actual event, the thought came to my head of, "What if I set up an actual photobooth/studio to photograph people?"
It's something I've seen done at some conventions, but I've never seen their results. So I figured I give it a shot. I talked to some photographers I know, and discussed how I should approach it. It was new and fresh for me; this was the revitalization I needed. I love doing studio shoots and want to do them as much as I can. So why not combine it with doing on location with cosplay?
I packed my gear up, bought a giant backdrop, and the results of this experiment happened. So far it's very enjoyable. I have some bigger plans for Wondercon though... THAT will be something more... "me."
