Event Day 10-14-2017
New Location. New Day. I did things. Here they are!
Event Date: September 2 & 3, 2017
Long Beach Comic-Con (the sibling convention to Long Beach Comic-Expo) took place this past weekend at the Long Beach Convention Center. My original plan was to set up an official photo booth, only to realize that they'd still want me to pay a fee to get a booth in the expo hall. I decided on passing and doing the whole "wander around and take photos" deal like I've done in past conventions there.
A couple of days prior to the event, I got one of their email blasts, saying that they were having their event at the main building of the convention center, the side that has my favorite spot to shoot at a convention.
It's a spot I found back at Anime California 2015, and I swore to myself that I'd always setup there when given the chance. So the chance came and instead of ghosting outdoors, I dropped some money and got myself a ticket to steal that spot before anyone else could.
Here's the result of my excitement.
Event Date: June 29 through July 4, 2017
Anime Expo came and went, and while most people took part in just 4 days or less of the event, I tackled all 6 days, including Day Negative One. Overall it was a fun filled con with amazing visuals from cosplayers and the venue itself. Barring the "line hell" that occurred on Saturday, I had very little complaints about the way everything went.
I kinda burned myself out on the first couple official days, leaving my July 3 and 4 a little slower than the first two, but fun was had.
I had some paid shoots throughout the week, and those will be posted separately as they deserve their own posts in the future. But for now, here are some images I was able to snap during the span of the convention.

After a small hiatus, I decided to bring back the LA Cosplay Shootout events! I couldn't just make it any meetup, so I hooked up with our friends at Nerdbot to bring a good old fashioned BBQ to the meetup. It's the second time they've joined in the fun and here's hoping to many more years. Thanks to them being able to hold down base camp, I was able to shoot a little more than usual at these events. So prepare to look at random photos!

Fanime came and went. For the longest time I questioned my participation of the event. It wasn't until my friend said he had an extra seat in his car that I could squat my fat ass in.
I didn't want to commit the whole weekend, and I was so happy that he just wanted to roll up and down for one day. We made the best of it!
He rolled up to my place around 5 a.m. and we hauled all the asses to Fanime 2017 by 10:30 in the morning. It was a slow start as I was trying to get accustomed to the locations and remembering how to shoot with my bare minimum gear.
Over time I got back in my groove and was able to produce the following!
Event date: May 21, 2017
In the never ending story of "Gil catches up with photo edits," we come to the chapter where he finished editing photos from the Geek On! event at UC Riverside.
It was a fun weekend where we celebrated the birthday of one of our dear cosplay friends. We ended up staying at their home with a lot of people and had our own personal convention with good people. After the first night of laughter and goofing off, we ended up going over to the event. I personally took it easy and laid back only taking a few photos.
Hopefully you enjoy them :)
Event date: April 29, 2017
Ended up going to Titan-Con on a bit of a whim. I got there a little late and didn't get to do too much with a bunch of people so there's only a small selection of shots tossed up here.
Cosplay Gallery: Cosplay Meetup #2 Presented by the Cosplay Photographer Alliance. Heritage Park. Cerritos, California.
Event date: February 12, 2017
It was a great shootout. Fun times were had by all and so many friends came out and played.
The Cosplay Photographer Alliance really blew this event out of the water. We swarmed and overran the park to the point where they asked us to no longer come back because of the size of the event.
People from all over Southern California came by and had a great time.
Here are my highlights!
